Oak Glen Adventure

Last week, we took a trip up to Oak Glen for some end of season apple picking. The weather was beyond perfect...and Derrick just loved being outside and climbing up and down the hills. He loved putting the apples in the box and eating them. I can't wait to go back next year with Doug, Derrick and Dillon.

Picking apples

Starting to get a good collection

He wanted to tip the box over so bad!!

Homemade Applesauce

So me and Derrick took a trip to Oak Glen (pics to come soon) to pick some apples. We had such a great time and perfect weather! I decided to make some homemade applesauce being that Derrick loves apples and applesauce. I found a recipe that didn't call for adding extra sugar and decided to go for it.

It turned out great and Doug and Derrick love it!! I only made a small batch to start but will use the remaining apples to make some more!! Just a few pics of my applesauce making adventure!

Cleaning and peeled

In the slow cooker with cinnamon, water and vanilla

Cooking away...smelled delicious!!

All done and ready to be mashed...

Complete!! I left it a tad chunky because the apples were soft enough for Derrick to chew and it is delicious!!

Halloween!

Despite not feeling my best, we managed to get out of the house for an hour and headed to my mom's to meet up with Derrick's cousins then we went to our association's Halloween party. Derrick had fun and did great!!

He now likes to grab his backpack and tell me bye bye and walk to the door into the garage....I am not ready for him to move out yet!! ;-)

 My serious little monkey!

With his cousins...he would not smile at all (but he loved his costume)!

 Monkey man...so cute!

Cell Phone Friday ... on Sunday

Sorry cell phone Friday is coming a tad late this week. I was sick pretty much all weekend...no fun!! :-( Thankfully Doug was here which gave me tons of time to rest. So here you go...

Fun with Daddy...

When we picked Doug up at the airport a week or so ago we were down in Orange County so we decide to go get some lunch at the Irvine Spectrum. While waiting for the restaurant to call our name, Doug decided to take Derrick on the Merry-go-Round. He wasn't too sure about it at first...but ultimately had a great time!!

Waiting their turn

Getting ready...

Holding tight to daddy...

Not too sure about this...

 Mommy....heeeellllppp!!

Cell Phone Friday

So I decide to start what I am calling Cell Phone Friday. I have realized that majority of the time I only have my cell phone nearby to capture a picture of Derrick doing something crazy or funny. So, every Friday I am going to upload all my cell phone pictures of him throughout the week. Enjoy and have a great weekend!!!!   :-)

Derrick's new found skill is that of climbing. He managed to push this box over to his slide (yes we keep it in the house) and climb on top of the box and try to get into the slide house. He was so proud of himself to just get on the box. I tried to get a picture of him looking but he's too quick!

He finally kept his hat on long enough for me to snap a picture but go figure he blinked! He still looks super cute and actually kept the hat on for a long time today while we were outside playing. So handsome!!

We had a playdate at a friend's house and I had to snap this super cute moment of him sitting at the kid's table eating a snack and drinking his juice. He is shirtless because we were decorating cookies and I knew he would inevitably wipe his hand on his shirt so I outsmarted him and took his shirt off to save it from the blue, red, or orange stain :-)

Last picture of the week...my mom happened to come across these mini license plates at a store in Claremont. She was beyond thrilled and surprised to find each of the boys name (and the correct spellings too!) so she bought them for Doug to hang in his garage. I love them!!!!!!

Walking on the beach

Daddy...can we go back to the water??

Beautiful sunset!!

The Pumpkin Patch Adventures Begin...

...so this year there are a handful of pumpkin patches we want to visit. I know, you are wondering why so many?? Well, first of all it is cheap fun! Second, Derrick LOVES being outside and all the wandering around wears him out (good for mommy!!). Third, Derrick is old enough to enjoy them! Fourth, I love the holiday season!!

Our first stop was a pumpkin patch near our home. We had plans to go to one in Redlands but it was raining so we stayed close. It actually was drizzling as we got to the pumpkin patch but thankfully it stopped and we got to have some fun!

***LOTS OF PICS TO FOLLOW***
