Little Explorer

...the title should be "Little Troublemaker" instead. This morning while I was doing my hair, our little nugget decided to do some exploring in our bathroom. He knows how to open the cabinets and discovered that he fit perfectly inside of them. Although he did bump his head on the pipes a couple times which didn't make him too happy.

Sorry the quality of the picture isn't that great. I had just enough time to grab my phone and snap a picture, then he was done with his adventure. My little mischievous nugget...

11 Weeks Down

Fetal Development Week 11

Just a quick little update...today I am officially 11 weeks pregnant! Hoooray, but I have a ways to go. I am going to try to post weekly with any updates about how things are going along with belly pics when I start showing of course:

How I am feeling : Tired. I sure hope when I get to my second trimester that I get my energy back. I don't remember being this tired when I was pregnant with Derrick but then again, I wasn't chasing around an almost 1-year old!!

Baby's growth: Our little one is a little more than 2 inches long and weighs about .3 ounces (do this mean I cant blame the baby for the weight gain yet?? lol). Hair follicles are starting to form as well as fingernail and toenail beds. Also, the little one is starting to twist, turn and flip but I wont feel it for awhile.

Lessons from Daddy

It was time to officially put the locks on the cabinet doors as our little man has now figured out how to open them and pull everything out! This wouldn't bother me too much expect for the fact that he LOVES to get under the sink where all the cleaning stuff is. So this past weekend it was time for daddy to teach the nugget about power tools and daddy projects.

Hey mom, what's daddy doing to my cabinets??
Ut oh, this cant be good...
Getting a lesson from daddy
Hahaha, daddy thinks this is going to work!
Mommy, I found a monkey in my pocket
Working on pilates poses...try this one, it is ridiculously hard!

Wedding Season

So this year has been the year for weddings in my family!! We have had 2 weddings so far and one more to go this weekend. I was only able to snap a couple pictures of the little nugget during the ceremony and then my camera died (note to self: remember to charge camera battery before important events!). Derrick did great during the ceremony. He decided to try to chat with Joshy (his 2 year old cousin) but we quietly distracted them from each other....then Derrick decided to play with his bottle.

All in all he did perfect! He stayed up until 10:30 and then crashed out while my cousin was holding him. He is such a little trooper!

Random Pictures

I just snapped some pictures of our little nugget playing in his toy basket the other day...he has grown so much!!

Disneyland

Some of my cousins came to southern California for vacation and we tagged along on their Disneyland day. We had such a great day. Derrick held out and didn't nap all day (except the hour nap on the way there). He was a jewel. He loved being around all the other little kids ... it was a great day. When we left, he didn't even make it out of the parking structure before he was passed out!!!

Sadly, I didn't get any pics of the cousins together but I did manage to snap a couple of the little man!! :-)

He left them on for a few minutes, but that was it!
Posing with mommy!
Happy to be out of his stroller!

Kisses

I went outside to take out the trash and little D made his way to the sliding glass door. I think he was trying to escape from me but was disappointed when the door was closed. So to make up for it he was giving me kisses through the door.

*Ignore the water spots, they are on the outside of the door, not where he was kissing*

New Kicks...

...just in time to start walking!! So upon a recommendation, I decided to invest in some StrideRite shoes for Derrick. I have heard that they are the best for little ones who are just starting to walk. I know, I know, it is best for them to learn without shoes but frankly that isn't possible when we are outside or out and about running errands. But not to worry, he gets tons of shoe-free time at home!! Since our little nugget loves to take off his shoes and socks when he is in his car seat, I decided to get a pair that would be difficult to take off.

They measured him (he is 3.5, so we went with size 4!!!) and the sales associate brought out the pair I really liked. They fit him great and he didn't seem to mind them. He kept them on the whole way home and when we got home. It was close to bed time so we did a little playtime downstairs and he took 8 steps in a row!! He was holding onto the chair (the one in the picture) and he actually, for the first time, let go and walked into my arms!! It brought me to tears!!! He still has to work on his balance but this is the beginning.

I promise to get video this weekend when Doug comes home!! I am so excited for my little man to start walking. :-)

So grown up looking!
Super cool shoes!
So happy in his new shoes
You want me to do what?
Explain how this is supposed to work again?
Perfect for summer!

His Civic Duty

Derrick went with my to vote yesterday!! He did his civic duty of flirting with then polloing place ladies while mommy voted. He did so well, he earned himself a sticker!!!

Daddy's Little Boy

A couple nights ago we had the chance to venture down to San Diego to
see Doug for dinner! We had such a great time and Derrick was beyond
thirlled to see his daddy.

We ate at this little Mexican restaurant, walked around a little bit
then headed back to Doug's ship for a mini-tour. Derrick had fun and
kept saying "boat" and "wa" (water). He is a water lover just like his
daddy!!

I love these two beyond words!!!

I can't resist..

He is just way too cute for his own good!! I pulled out my chair from when I was little and Derrick climbed into it while he was watching Baby Einsteins. He sat there for awhile which surprised me. He was just too cute to pass up taking a picture!!

As promised...

...so I didn't get the printer working (have fun with it honey when you get home!!) but I was able to get a decent picture of the ultrasound. So here you go!! I also put a labeled one because I know the majority of people look at ultrasounds and go HUH?!?! I know I am guilty of it...kinda reminds me of those 3-D pictures you stare at and finally you see the picture! :-) Enjoy...

(don't forget, you can click on the picture to make it bigger...it helps in trying to figure out what the heck you are looking at!)

Debuting 1/11/11

Today was my doctor appointment and ultrasound. I was so thrilled to get to hear our baby's heartbeat and see little pistachio on the ultrasound. I am on track for 1/11 as my due date which puts me just a tad over 8 weeks along!!

This is where I would post the ultrasound picture but I somehow managed to delete my printer off my computer and I tried to reinstall it but I don't know what it did...and now it's not working!! Where is Doug when I need him!??!?! Oh that's right, in the middle of the ocean...hi honey!!! :-)

So hopefully I will be able to fix our printer so I can scan the ultrasound picture...and if not, I will figure something out! So keep checking back!!!

Gymbo Kisses

Derrick has officially graduated to level 3 in his Gymboree classes. This means that he is now in a class full of cruisers and walkers and we now get to do more activities that are geared towards his activity level. At the end of each class, Derrick gets a Gymbo Kiss (this is a stamp on his hand). His first class he had no clue that he got it and it wasn't until bath time that night that he actually noticed it. Today we went to our second class and when we got home he was showing off his Gymbo Kiss to me!! Such a ham for the camera....

First Haircut!!

My little man is growing up way too fast. Next week he will be 11 months old. We are talking about a month until he is 1!! Ahhh!! This past weekend, Doug noticed Derrick's mullet that was starting to become more and more obvious. So we took him to get his very first haircut. We went to a kid's haircut place and he got to sit in a firetruck. He kept his eye on the lady cutting his hair and wasn't too fond of what she was up to. As you can see he did start crying at one point, but after a pep talk from mommy, he was fine. He did so great that he got a sucker!! He looks so grown up now with his haircut...but it looks great! Good call daddy!!

What the heck is going on....help me!!
A haircut in pictures
I survived!!

Trouble Maker

Derrick has started to get into EVERYTHING!!! He learned to open the kitchen cabinets and drawers. I have had to rearrange some of them to accommodate him. He now loves to open the drawer and pull out the measuring spoons...I think he thinks he is helping me!!
He also loves to stand on the freezer at my moms house. She has a double freezer that Derrick can stand on and look right into the fridge. He was having a blast when I let him do it. Love this little man!! He is going to cause some trouble though....

Just a funny...

We were cruising around Target the other day and Derrick decided to make himself super comfortable in the cart...
...my little nugget just cracks me up!! I can only imagine what is to come...

New Paint

Doug got the painting bug so I sent him to Derrick's room to have some fun. He did an amazing job! We just painted one wall for now...because I figure in the future when Derrick moves to a toddler bed then we will want to change the theme of his room. So, we are safe with the blue paint, but didn't want to do much more than that at this point!! Thank you honey!!!!!!

Chuck E Cheese...

...talk about an adventure!! We met some friends of ours at Chuck E Cheese one night. It was a lot of fun. Derrick wasn't too fond of ChuckE (can you blame him...its a giant rat or mouse!) but he had fun on the toys and games. The first picture is one of my all-time favorite!! You can see the fun these two have together!! I was thrilled to capture this moment!!

New Jammies and Trampolines

Derrick got some super cool new jammies and him and daddy decided to play around before bed time. Needless to say it wasn't the best idea because he did not want to go to bed that night. Here he is struttin' his stuff....

And could Derrick be anymore of a mini-me version of Doug?!?!

Also, I have a mini-trampoline that I happened to bring in the house one day and Derrick fell in love! He now crawls up on it and brings toys on top of it to play. He figured out how to turn around and crawl down off of it (and not go head first like he is in the picture below) so he is safe. He loves it so much that it has become a permanent piece in our living room.

Catch-up

Derrick is crawling all over the place and every second he gets, he pulls himself up to stand and cruise furniture to furniture. His favorite place to play is in the kitchen...he manages to get himself around pretty fast too. Here are some pictures from last month (I know, sorry it has taken me so long to get them up) of Derrick cruising...

Updates Coming Soon....

I PROMISE!!! I have a list of new blog posts and pictures to put up. I figure why not start June off on the right foot and actually update the blog!! So keep an eye out...as soon as the nugget goes to bed tonight I will be posting until my eyes wont stay open anymore. Just to hold you over for now....
