Beach Bum

Like I've said before, Derrick LOVES the water. My dad was spending the weekend down at Crystal Cove at Newport Beach and so we decided to venture down there with my brother and his family. Derrick was super curious about the sand but did not hesitate to put his feet in the water. We splashed and played and both of us got soaking wet but it was worth it. We plan on spending a lot of time at the beach this summer....

And just some of my favorite close ups for the day...

A Little Late...

...but I finally gathered up the Easter pictures. He looked so grown up in his outfit. Makes me happy and sad. We are getting way too close to his first birthday! Here ya go...

Our Little Fish

Derrick definitely got his daddy's love of water. He loves his bath time and starts shrieking when we start the bath water. Daddy had a chance a couple weeks ago to give Derrick his last bath in the sink. He has outgrown his baby bathtub and the sink. He has graduated up to his big bathtub in his bathroom. He LOVES it as you can see from the video I posted the other day. So here are some cute pictures of our little water bug.

And of course, there's the pool. He loves to splash and play. Luckily our neighborhood has a child's wading pool which is the perfect size for little D. Now, if only I can figure out how to keep the sun from burning him without having him look like Casper because of all the sunscreen.

Working on that whole eating thing...

Derrick officially has 4 teeth now. His front two on top and bottom. He wants to desperately eat table food but doesn't quite have enough teeth for this to happen. So we are left with fruit puffs (which dissolve in his mouth after a while, nothing like finding the soggy ones in his high chair or on the floor) or bread. Here he is with what I like to call "full chipmunk cheeks". He had a lot of puffs in his cheeks...but he ate them all.

And...a couple weeks ago we went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill and Derrick claimed the bread. He had a blast with it. He puts the few teeth he has to good use.

For his 1st birthday...

...Derrick requests paper. It is his favorite thing to pull out of the printer and play with. He is lucky he is so darn cute...

Sorry Daddy...

...he may have Doug's looks but he sure got my brains.

Case and point:

Giggles.

He makes my heart melt. I love his pure joy.

I love my boys!

Just a few shots I wanted to share for those that follow. Our little D is growing up so fast. I can't believe we are 2.5 months away from celebrating the big 1 year old birthday!! Guess I better start planning that huh?! ;-) And I must say....I LOVE our new camera!!

Disneyland!!!

A couple weeks ago Doug had a week of vacation so I thought it was a perfect time to go to Disneyland. This was our first time going as a family and we had such a great time. The weather was gorgeous!!

Derrick had a blast and it was fun to actually take him on a few rides. He isn't too fond of the characters though, he likes to observe from afar but nothing more than that. Remember the Easter Bunny story?? Needless to say we didn't want to torture the little guy by trying to get pictures of him with the characters...someday in the future we will approach that again!

Like I said before, the weather was gorgeous. It turned out to be much warmer than the weatherman predicted so we bought little D a Mickey outfit to show of his muscles!

He was all smiles, all day long. He had such a great time having daddy there (his mommy, auntie, and cousins too of course!!). Those big eyes of his capture my heart every time I look into them!!
Our favorite part of the day was going on the newly remodeled submarine ride. It is now Finding Nemo theme and I must say it is pretty cool. Derrick LOVED it. He loved having his own little window and kept looking out it then turning to look at Doug as if to say "Did you see that?!". The only person more thrilled with the ride than Derrick was probably Doug. He kept talking about it the rest of the day!!
We then ventured over to California adventure for the rest of the day. The sun started to set and it cooled down pretty quick. We did a quick change for little D and then went browsing around and went on a ride or two. Doug snapped some great pictures of our little man.
All in all it was a great day!! We cant wait to keep going as Derrick grows up especially as he gets older and can go on more rides and such. He was exhausted by the end of the day but hung in there. Look at those tired eyes....

WOW!!

So here is a side-by-side view of how much little D has grown!! The picture of the left was taken when Derrick was about 6 months old and the picture on the right he is 8 months old. I don't truly appreciate how fast he is growing until I see it like this. He was so little...my little nugget. This explains his 2-4 hour naps and sleeping 12 hours a night. Apparently it is paying off.

Playing catch up...

Since I have been slacking on the blog front...I know what you're thinking, Whats new?!....I figured I would post a bunch of pictures of little D. So here you go. More to come. :0)

Happy Easter!

So I realize that this blog is a tad late but hey...I have been slacking lately. So Happy Easter. Derrick had a great Easter. Doug was able to be home and we got to see all of our family. I will post some more Easter pictures in a bit but just wanted to share this set of pictures of his Easter present. He loves to stand so this was perfect for him and he loves all the lights and sounds. So Happy (better late than never) Easter!!

I am in there somewhere...

My apologies for being such a lame blogger lately. The hubby has been home so I have been enjoying every minute that I can with him. I will be better, I promise. Or at least I will attempt to be better at blogging.

My mom happened to come across my Easter picture from when I was 8 months old. So here I am side-by-side with Derrick's Easter picture (he is 9 months old). He does look like me. Most say he looks like his daddy. Heck, who am I kidding...he is a little mini-me of him!! Guess it is a good thing that I think my hubby is super cute!! But now you can all see that I am in there somewhere. Needless to say, I love my handsome little nugget.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. I took a picture of both of these pictures on my phone and emailed them. But you be the judge...
