USS Hornet

This past weekend we went down to Alameda to tour the USS Hornet. The USS Hornet was an active Navy aircraft carrier in WWII and it was part of the recovery of the Apollo 11 manned space mission. It was an amazing to see how big it really was and to see all the history. Here are some pictures from our adventure...

I was amazed at how the wings of the planes folded up to fit on the carrier

Just some random pictures...

So I thought I would post some random pictures from the last few weeks that are too adorable not to post....ENJOY!!!

Doug's Adventure

Doug recently got underway with the Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf for a week to do training. The CGC Bertholf is the sister ship to the boat that Doug is stationed on, CGC Waesche. He really enjoyed his trip and learned a lot. We missed him terribly and got a glimpse of what an adjustment it is going to be when he deploys in October for 5-7 months but we will make it!! Here are some pictures of his return:

2 Months Old

Derrick officially turned 2 months old on 9/8/09!

He is growing and changing so much. He smiles all the time, is starting to lift his head up and has started "talking back" to us (the only time in life we will enjoy it!!). He is becoming more alert everyday and has recently started sleeping 6-8 hours straight at night which mommy appreciates greatly!!

He had his 2 month well baby checkup and his doctor said he is thriving and doing great. Here are the stats:

10 pounds, 13 ounces, 14th percentile (5 pounds, 14 ounces when he was born so almost double his birth weight...he sure does love mama's milk!!)
22.5 inches, 15th percentile (19 inches when he was born)

He doesn't have to go back for another 2 months! I can't believe my little peanut is growing so much. I was looking at his pictures from the hospital and he doesn't even look like the same little man. Here are pictures of him showing how much he has changed in 2 months:

His Birthday....complete with milk mustache!!
